Telemedicine

Now, you can connect through smartphone or tablet with the same veterinarians you know and trust—from the comfort of your home.

Some important details to Canfield's telemedicine offering...

  •  TeleTails connects you with the Canfield veterinary team. You will not be talking to a third-party veterinarian. The virtual consultation fee is $55.

  • Not all ailments are good fits for telemedicine. We will be up-front with you and conservative as always.

  • TeleTails is meant to supplement, and not replace office visits. Any in-person follow-up will be billed separately.

  • Currently, only Canfield clients with smartphones or tablets can utilize this service. We only offer telemedicine services to patients with whom we have an active, existing relationship.

Virtual consults

Some ailments are more compatible than others for virtual care. A virtual exam does not mean your pet will not need follow-up, such as an in-person exam or additional tests. The following types of conditions can be reviewed virtually.

  • Allergies
  • Coughing, sneezing, signs of upper respiratory infection (URI)
  • Dermatology
  • Diabetic care and management
  • External parasites (fleas, ticks, mites, etc.)
  • Gastrointestinal upsets, intestinal parasites
  • Hospice care
  • Lameness evaluations
  • Limited mobility patients and clients
  • Medication refills
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Progress exam
  • Stressed/anxious pets
  • Suture checks
  • Weight management

How do I sign up for a virtual consult?

If you would like to connect with our team from home, visit the Canfield page on the TeleTails website.

Then download the TeleTails mobile app and enter our code CANFIELD.  If you need help, the TeleTails team is happy to walk you through any of the set-up process!

What does this mean for you?

We do our best to be available to you and your pets. Our digital care consultation coverage is limited to working hours. You can anticipate a 2- to 4-hour turn-around around in response, but occasionally, we may be delayed due to an in-office emergency.

Nothing changes at the hospital at all. We'd love to continue to see you and your pet in person, and always remember to call the clinic at (585) 383-1110 in case of emergency.
